Keyoxide Mobile 2.4.5: Linux Version Is Here
Two releases landed since 2.4.3, and the big one is that the Keyoxide Mobile is no longer big-tech only but now supporting Linux Mobile as well as Linux Desktop. 2.4.4 brought the app to Linux, published on Flathub, and 2.4.5 filled in the biggest missing piece: the QR-code scanner (Altough the camera support on Linux Mobile is still a bit unstable, I still added the support and it works).
2.4.4 is the first ever Linux release of the Keyoxide app, covering both desktop distributions and mobile Linux. You can install it straight from Flathub or build it yourself from the source.
- Native profile storage on Linux, so your saved profiles and settings behave exactly like they do on Android and iOS
- Deep linking works: aspe: and openpgp4fpr: links open the right profile directly, including portal forwarding when running inside the Flatpak sandbox
- Adaptive window: the title bar is dropped on small mobile Linux screens to give your content the full display, and desktop windows open at a sensible default size
- Biometric unlock is not available on Linux yet, since I can't really test it on my own device (no biometric support yet) I thought it would be best to keep it out for now but it's on the list.
- 2.4.4 had to ship without the QR scanner on Linux because the camera plugin didn't support it. 2.4.5 closes that gap, the scanner now works on Linux desktop and mobile using libcamera.
The same release also picked up a Material ripple effect on claim tiles and a refreshed Android build toolchain (Gradle 8.14.3, AGP 8.12.1, Kotlin 2.2.20, NDK 28.2.13676358), plus new Flathub and F-Droid metadata and descriptions.
When I released the Linux version on flathub, I had a chat with one of the flathub maintainers and he told me how important it is to include other fonts for the people with reading difficulties so the old on/off "dyslexic font" switch has grown into a proper font selector. Choose from Atkinson Hyperlegible, Comic Neue, Liberation Sans,
Liberation Serif, OpenDyslexic, or your system monospace font. Each bundled font ships with its license and full credit in-app, and your choice persists across restarts.
There are also some other stuff that are changed and fixed:
- Pressing Enter in the search field now submits your search instead of only moving focus to the button
- Settings changes are saved reliably
- Encrypted saved keys unlock correctly again
- Tapping a profile no longer opens it multiple times
- The profile-loading dialog no longer jumps around while loading
- Dates in settings show the correct year
- Deep links open the profile instead of an error page
Available now on Flathub, Codeberg Releases, F-Droid, App Store, Google Play. Grab 2.4.5 and let me know if you have any feature requests or bugs in Codeberg Issues. And if you have a spare minute, please help with the translations.
